Few things can be as scary, stressful and exhilarating as opening a business, but expanding that fledgling business ranks up there. When Homeplace opened in June of 2017, we had no real idea of what to expect from our taproom business. We have loved our little incubator space on South Main, but we are ready to stretch our legs!
After about a year of searching for the right opportunity for an expansion, we were lucky enough to find the right group of folks to partner with on the “old Banco building,” an abandoned, three-story, mixed use facility near the bottom of the hill of West Main Street. Sometime in January we began the long process of transforming the space into (what we hope will be) a magnet for Burnsville – a fully realized brew pub with a kitchen, lots of seating, a big outdoor deck and a large outdoor green space and picnic area with games, fire pits and a music stage. We will have the increased brewing capacity to fulfill our growing wholesale demand, the outdoor space and seating capacity to accommodate about five times as many people and lots of fun things to experience. We will, of course, continue to focus on making our establishment a place anyone can feel welcome, including family. And dogs! We will have a great outdoor area for dogs.
The next six months will be a harrowing, exciting time for Homeplace and our crew. We believe in what we’re doing and trust that all the time and effort from all parties will be worth it when we can reveal the finished space, hopefully sometime this Fall or Winter.
Thanks for following us on this journey, look for more updates as we go along!
